Mackenzie is the Global Startup Evangelist at AWS. His days are spent traveling the globe to meet startups, share their stories, and connect engineering teams together. Every day there are a large number of startups launching on AWS across every imaginable industry. It’s Mackenzie’s mission to find stories of startups that are helping to improve the world and share these stories with a wide audience.

 

Prior to joining AWS, Mackenzie was the Head of Technical Operations at Betterment, the world’s largest independent robo-advisor based in NYC which manages over $8B in assets. Mackenzie was a founding engineer and Head of Technical Operations at Oscar Health, an insurance startup also based in NYC, helping to grow the company to over 400+ employees.

About the event

Join AWS and Deloitte on Friday September 8, 2023 for the  Cloud Audit Academy - Federal and DoD Workloads (FDW) In-Person Event to learn how AWS services can be used to assist with U.S. Federal and DoD security and compliance requirements.

 

You'll also learn how to navigate the AWS Management Console and AWS services to help meet U.S. Federal Government requirements by:


• Developing and enhancing technical audit competency in an AWS cloud environment with an auditor/regulator lens

• Understanding how to leverage the AWS resources available to help plan for and demonstrate compliance with NIST SP 800-171 or other compliance related requirements (NIST SP 800-53 and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC))

• Validating and assess documentation used to satisfy audit and compliance requirements when workloads are hosted in an AWS environment

• Understanding how NIST SP 800-171 and related frameworks, and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Assessment Methodology apply to cloud service customer’s operations in the AWS environment

Prerequisite

It is recommended that registrants have the following prerequisites:

 

• Familiarity with Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity’s ITSP.50.105 Guidance on cloud security assessment and authorization.

 

• Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) project experience using any Cloud Service Provider (CSP)

 

• Completion of the AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials (virtual, free, self-paced)

 

• Completion of the the Cloud Audit Academy - Foundational Course (3 CPE, virtual, free, self-paced)

 

• Completion of the Getting Started with AWS Audit Manager course (virtual, free, self-paced)

 

• Completion of the Cloud Audit Academy FDW Interactive Modules course (virtual, free, self-paced)

Shar Qureshi

Senior Manager, Risk and Financial Advisory Digital Controls - Cloud Risk offering, Deloitte

Shar has been working in financial services and the tech industry for over 19 years. For the past 6 years, he has specialized in controls advisory, assurance and security engagements focusing primarily on AWS. 


Shar brings a unique combination of audit/assurance and deep technical understanding of cloud. He has provided guidance to organizations across industries on matters related to governance, risk management, compliance and security as organizations navigate their digital transformation.

 

Shar has presented at AWS Re:Inforce, and has facilitated numerous cloud audit-related courses through Deloitte’s partnerships and alliances. He is responsible for leading the upskilling, cloud fluency, learning and development initiatives for Deloitte assurance specialists. Shar is 11x AWS certified, 4x GCP, CISSP, CISA, Kubernetes (KCNA, CKAD and CKA), among others. He maintains an active CPA license in the state of New York.

Elaine Li

Manager, Risk and Financial Advisory practice, Deloitte & Touche LLP

Elaine has experience in IT risk and controls for both internal and external audit engagements, with a focus on cloud computing related technologies. She specializes in cloud assessments to help companies navigate the cloud environment securely and quickly.


Elaine helps her clients design and implement cloud controls as well as assess and rationalize their control security framework to efficiently meet their regulatory and compliance requirements. She also advises clients on cyber and cloud security best practices and remediation strategies.


Elaine is AWS 4x certified, CISSP, CSSP and CCSK amongst others.

Lanre Fagbayi

Lead, Cloud Security Specialist, Deloitte

Lanre has over 14 years of experience in technology, cybersecurity, risk and industry compliance. He specializes in Cloud Security Technologies, Security Engineering, Assessment, Solution Architecture & Compliance, Consulting and Professional Services.


He has spent 8+ years in securing cloud environments, with involvement in enterprise cloud & cyber transformation programs which include the design, architect, review and assessment of enterprise security controls, framework and technology solution platforms for on-premise/cloud service platforms(SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) across various industry verticals such as Financial Service, Public, Telecom, Energy & Manufacturing.

 

He is also skilled at interpreting industry regulatory and compliance requirements (NIST, CIS, CSA-CCM, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001,ISO 20000, and others) into implementable controls with strong ability to present to top executives and communicate with technical management team.

 

Lanre was selected among the First Black Africans by Microsoft as a Cyber Subject Matter Expert for the Microsoft Global Summit 2018 in Germany (where he delivered a keynote paper on Cloud Security & IOT Security Assessment). An ITIL\ISO 2000 and EC-COUNCIL Certified Trainer, he has delivered technology and business training\keynotes across industry sectors.
